garage floor mat, garage floor protection I don’t have any kids but have a vivid memory of my first car. Like most sixteen year olds’ first car, it had its share of problems. I had an old Ford Explorer, which my dad had kept for me in his driveway for a couple years. It had been sitting for those two years. When the day finally came, I took a sponge to the mold that had started to grow all over the exterior, kicked off rusted pieces on the exhaust, threw in a new battery and hit the road. Pulling into the garage, it only took one night before we realized it was leaking oil. With no garage floor protection past the cement ground, I had to figure out something so my mom wouldn’t flip.

Being sixteen with no money, I found a garage floor mat that just covered the space underneath where the oil was leaking. I set up a tennis ball on a twine from the garage ceiling so I knew how far to pull in and that was that. The garage floor mat took the brunt of the oil but there was still some runoff. We laid down kitty litter to absorb the rest of the oil to solve the problem. Garage floor treatment would have protected the whole floor but we didn’t have the money for that so a garage floor mat was the next best thing. I think garage floor protection is one of those things people forget to consider when getting a place. After my Explorer experience I wont forget to check when that day comes.
