There are several things you can do to protect your garage floor if you want to. You can use a garage containment floor mat, use garage floor treatments or do nothing at all. We didn't use anything on our garage floor and it was fine except for the stains. It is usually the stains that drive people crazy though so you might want to do something. I have been looking at using a garage floor epoxy on our next garage floor. It would protect the floor and actually make it look nice. Most hardware stores carry kits designed for you to do it yourself. You do have to be careful though because it's not meant for every garage floor. If you have spots on your garage floor that sweat or stay moist for a long time, then this product might not be the best one for you. The coating will probably flake away after a short time. If you are not sure whether there is a moisture problem then applying a salt blocker ahead of time will certainly prevent a problem with your garage floor protection coating.
